Informational Letter for Parents
OPEN HOUSE TONIGHT
Parents: As you may know, there is an open house tonight at Cordova Middle School. There is a PTSA Supper and Meeting at 5:30 p.m. and a “Meet the Teacher” time from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Be here to meet your child’s teachers and to meet me!
Should Concert Choir somehow not be on the schedule tonight, please come by the choir room and let me talk with you. Sometimes on these occasions the elective courses get left off the agenda. Please know, I will be here to meet you tonight.

An updated calendar will be issued tonight – this one for home. Keep this calendar for your reference of our activities this fall.
CONCERNING THE FUNDRAISERS
Students are given the opportunity to do fund raisers to help raise money for the choir and to pay for a spring choir festival trip should the student get to go. Students are not required to do fund raisers. Ninety percent of a student’s fund raiser profits is available for the student to use to pay for a spring trip, but a student may participate in a fund raiser even if not going on the out-of-town trip. This will help raise money for the choir and its programs. Fund raising is fun and it is optional.
FALL FLOWER SALE FUNDRAISER
We are beginning our fall flower sale fund raiser tonight, September 3, a little earlier than originally planned. Students will be issued flower sale customer order forms upon the return of a parent signed permission form. There are only two weekends open to do the sale so everyone needs to hustle. The sale ends Sunday, September 13. Order forms need to be turned in Monday, September 14. A parent coordinator of the flower sale is needed to manage the necessary paper work, collect money and write receipts, and to organize a pickup day at the school, scheduled for the first week in October.
CAR WASH FUNDRAISER
Two weekends in September are designated for a 5th and 6th grade choir car wash and a 7th and 8th grade choir car wash. Parents, of course, are needed to help collect washing supplies and to help plan the event and coordinate the activities to make the car wash a successful day. We might decide to sell drinks and snacks to further make some money if some parents step forward and offer to coordinate that. Tonight, car wash tickets are being issued to students whose parents sign permission forms for student participation. Students whose parents do not come tonight will be issued tickets upon the return of the student permission form. Please note, students will be issued up to ten tickets to sell, but unsold tickets must be returned or the student will be responsible for payment. Money must be collected upon issuance of the tickets to customers. Cost is $5.00.
